Discussion: The Omnivore's Dilemma
"I'm part way through this book and it's a really good read. The author, Michael Pollan, follows his meals up (or is that down?) the food industry chain. So far, he's bought a beef cow that will be slaughtered for meat following a stint in the industrial feedlot system. He's also followed organic foods on the way to the table. Towards the end of the book, he's going hunting for his own food- can't wait to see how he handles that! Will he actually shoot his own meat or just end up eating fruits and berries and nuts? It's a very thoughtful, fascinating look at how food reaches our tables. Has anyone else read this? if so, what did you think? I'm already finding I'm buying more locally raised meats and less meat, period, since starting this book."
