"What what would be the one piece of constructive/proactive advice you would offer an eco-novice that you feel has helped you go green(er)?"

"I would tell anyone who wanted to go or be more green, to first think of what you are and are not doing. I would tell them to look around themselves and see the damage that we have already done. I would tell them to research and listen to everything they could to educate themselves about going green. I would tell them to ask questions of people they trust about green issues and how to resolve them. Then, I would tell them to start actively being green in the simplest or most comfortable place they could, within their means and keep adding a new way of becoming more green every chance they get.

It can be as simple as starting to go green with switching out your old regular light bulbs to new energy saving ones. It could be as east as not using plastic bags when you shop, by replacing them with reusable cloth ones. It could also be as easy as learning to recycle, and if your neighborhood doesn't have recycling at the curb, there may be a service that allows you to still recycle at specific, scheduled places in your community.

These are just a few of the ways someone can learn about how to go green and do it a relatively simple and inexpensive way. There are also a lot of groups on the Internet that can help you find other ways I haven't mentioned as well as lend support."

"Ditch the car. @My Green Cleaner, trust me if there´s one thing they can do is really to get rid of their cars. People will find themselves with more money and they´ll get fitter in the process. @Candeeb, you´re right too"

"I've just read this really interesting peice in newscientist.com about what we can do to make the world a better place. It looks at things from a different angle to what I usually read. A few of the points I find a bit controversial and on the face of it "ungreen" (gene screening?) but I found the article really informative and it has definitely changed the way I look at things.
