"My friends have been nagging me to write a book on gardening, finally after much doubt I have decided to go ahead, and as we work on the side of a mountain in the languedoc where we have a small well for our water supply dry/low water gardening is what I tend to know most about.

However as a web editor, and at heart a lazy chap, I decided that the best way to do it was to avoid the usual author in the loft madly typing away under candle light was to actually write in the form of an open wiki.

This cunning plan has a number of advantages, firstly despite my A's in English and all that I still tend to be rather clumsy sometimes when I write and the worst of it can be picked up and sorted out by pre-publishing, secondly glaring errors can be sorted out before hanb, thirdly my fielcd of knowlege is deep but narrow on the subject, and other people probbaly know more wider issues, as well as being able to help out with some refreshing new perspectives. The last point is that there is surprising little info out there so if I can get the process to work then hopefully it can be turned into a nice little community with a directory et al.
