Carbon Footprint - Implications for commercial property

Carbon Footprint - Implications for commercial property

Port@l leaders in delivering innovative space and infrastructure solutions, has commissioned an independent white paper to help the commercial property sector understand the importance of carbon emissions. Entitled ‘Carbon Footprint - Implications for Commercial Property’, the availability of the research coincides with the Department of Energy Efficiency’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme that comes into effect this month.

Port@l’s Managing Director John Gotley commented, “Commercial buildings are large contributors to greenhouse gases, and there is much political pressure and legislation to reduce their impact on the environment through reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption. The aim of the research paper is to act as an introductory guide to help commercial property professionals understand the significance of sustainability for new or existing buildings.”

The paper discusses the latest and future Government legislation and explains how this will affect businesses and their properties. As well as covering the various options available for those seeking to reduce or offset emissions, the paper also includes the associated incentives and benefits that can result from organisations adopting a greener approach.

John Gotley added, “Carbon emissions are becoming an increasingly important topic when acquiring new property solutions. As a supplier of managed property solutions that prides itself on meeting low carbon standards, we felt that it was important to share the results of this report to help fellow property professionals understand the current position and implications of Carbon Footprint, so they can plan their own sustainable strategies.”
